Job Description – PR Account Director

Merchant Marketing Group is a well-established full service agency, providing the complete mix of graphic design, PR, marketing and digital media. Our reputation is built on imaginative design, strategic thinking and quality service provision. We are results-driven and have developed a large blue-chip client portfolio.

As a rapidly expanding agency, we are looking for a PR Account Director to support and lead our healthcare clients predominantly within the B2B and B2C sectors.   Healthcare experience is essential whether in the public or private sector.  An interest in health affairs and lifestyle matters is also a must. 

The Role

We run major campaigns for some of the UK's largest healthcare providers with specific focus on cosmetic surgery, weight loss surgery, modern orthopaedic surgery, medical devices, mental health and rehabilitation.  We operate at a national and local level working with an array of media.  We are focused on developing our PR offering, and ePR and effective web PR are an integral part of what we do on a daily basis.  

You will work as part of a team but be responsible for a large number of accounts.  You will be supported by account managers and account executives.

Your typical work activities will include:

  • Writing strategy, devising campaigns and ensuring effective implementation across chosen media
  • Researching and contributing to new business proposals
  • Achieving targets for both coverage and revenue
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key press, target audiences and influential stakeholders
  • Keeping abreast of health care innovation and policy, ensuring knowledge is shared with the rest of the team
  • Using the latest networking tools online and offline
  • Helping support the company with thought leadership, researching and drafting topics for news stories and press releases
  • Researching and drafting press releases
  • Researching and pitching feature opportunities
  • Crisis management if necessary
  • Keeping abreast of government policy in specific areas
  • Further expanding existing accounts
  • Ensure accounts are using the latest ePR techniques
  • Develop and effective media monitoring and reporting service for our clients.

Salary is subject to experience.

We are seeking someone full time but can make work hours flexible.  The individual must have a full driving licence and be able to base them self at our Southampton office.
